The City
MARBELLA is a city and district in southern Spain belonging to the province of Malaga, in the self-governing community of Andalusia. It is located in the heart of the Costa del Sol, it is the headquarters of the Commonwealth in a harmonious community and head of the judicial district that bears his name.
MARBELLA is situated on the Mediterranean, between Málaga and the Straits of Gibraltar, in the foothills of the Sierra Blanca. Its district covers an area of 117 square kilometers, crossed by the highway and toll road called the Mediterranean, the main entrances to the town.
Sports

Sports Clubs
There are sports clubs specialised in many different sports, being one of the few Spanish cities that has a professional football team, the Sharks Marbella. The main football club of the city is the UD Marbella, who plays for Spanish 2nd Division B. UD Marbella is the direct successor of the old CA Marbella, which had its heyday in the mid-90s, rising consecutively in the 3rd Division 1990-91 season to the 1991-92 2.ªB and of 2.ªB to 2.ªA.Tiene a basketball club CB Marbella with an impressive pool of players / ace and a team until last season in national category.
Sports Events
Marbella is the scene of some sporting events of national and international, notable tennis events, such as the Andalucía Tennis Experience Tournament and the late Marbella Tournament, also in this sport, Marbella held the semi-finals of the Davis Cup 2009. Another noteworthy event is the Grand Prix sailing Costa del Sol.
